For restaurants & cafés

Thin margins deserve fast answers.

Food costs creep, labor swings, and the slow season is always closer than it looks. Ollie Books plugs Claude into your QuickBooks Online so you can ask what’s really going on and get a live answer in plain English. Nothing stored, disconnect anytime.
A stone farmhouse beside a lavender field — a busy place, kept in good order.
Your books, between services

In this business, a few points of food cost decide the month — and by the time the P&L lands, the month is already over. Ollie Books lets you ask your live QuickBooks numbers today, while the month can still be saved.

Kitchen-table questions

Ask before the P&L tells you.

These aren’t taglines — they’re real prompts. Type them into Claude exactly as written.
Prompt

“What’s my cost of goods this month vs last — what jumped?”

The creep, caught while the vendor conversation can still happen.
Prompt

“Are weekends actually more profitable than weekdays?”

If your sales post to QuickBooks daily, Claude can compare them honestly — day by day, from what’s really in your books.
Prompt

“How much cash cushion do I have going into the slow season?”

The runway number, before you commit to the winter staffing plan.
How it fits the floor

Built for margins measured in points.

Ollie Books reads whatever posts to your QuickBooks Online — daily sales, vendor bills, payroll, rent. If it’s in your books, you can ask about it.
Cost creep, caught early
Compare any month to the last, any vendor to their old prices. “Which suppliers charged me more this quarter?” is one sentence now.
Seasonality you can plan for
Compare this July to last July, trend the shoulder months, and see the cash cushion before the slow season starts spending it.
Honest about the source
Claude reads your QuickBooks Online — not your POS. Daily sales summaries, vendor bills, payroll entries: if it posts to your books, it’s fair game to ask.
Margins

Run the week, not the quarter.

Restaurant margins move too fast for quarterly reviews. A live line into QuickBooks turns month-end surprises into Tuesday questions.

Restaurant math is unforgiving: a few points of food cost decide whether the month worked. Those points are already in QuickBooks — Ollie Books just makes them answer when you ask, not when the books close.

COGS without the wait
“Food cost this month vs last — what jumped?” Asked over Tuesday coffee, not at month-end.
Labor in proportion
If payroll runs through QuickBooks, ask what it is as a share of sales — this month, last month, trending.
A cushion you can count
How many weeks of slow season can the bank balance carry? Ask, get a number, plan the winter.

FAQ

What owners ask before connecting

The honest answers, before you connect the books.

Something we didn't cover? Talk to our team

Does it read my POS?
No — Ollie Books reads QuickBooks Online. Most restaurants sync daily sales from the POS into QuickBooks, and if yours does, you can ask about sales day by day. Item-level POS analytics (which dish sells best) live in your POS, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Can it tell me my food cost percentage?
If your purchases are categorized in QuickBooks — food, beverage, paper — yes: ask for cost of goods as a share of sales for any period, and compare periods to spot the jump. The answer is only as good as the bookkeeping, which is true of every number in this business.
Do you store my financial data?
No. Ollie Books is a pass-through connector — numbers are fetched live from QuickBooks the moment you ask, returned to your Claude session, and never stored on our servers. You can revoke access anytime, and our security page has the full picture.
How long does setup take?
About five minutes: sign up, connect QuickBooks through Intuit's own authorize screen, paste one URL into Claude. No dashboard to build, no report templates to learn.
What does it cost?
One plan, everything included — $29/month for a limited time at launch (regularly $59), with a 14-day free trial, no card needed. Nothing auto-charges until you add payment details, and you can cancel anytime in one click. For scale: an hour of bookkeeper time costs more than two months of Ollie.
